Mission:

The mission of the Juvenile Justice Committee is to provide an ongoing forum to discuss issues relevant to juvenile corrections in Minnesota and to provide input to the legislative committee regarding juvenile justice legislation.  Our focus has been to provide a learning environment in which members can share their own experiences and hear from others about effective juvenile practices around the state.

Goals:

  • Focus on issues germane to juvenile corrections while working with the Vice-President, the Education and Training Committee, the Legislative Committee and the Annual Training Institute Committee to ensure that juvenile issues are addressed.

  • Ensure that concepts of restorative justice are considered when developing initiatives regarding juvenile justice.

  • Serve as a representative group for juvenile correctional workers.

  • Provide evaluation and education on evidence-based practices found effective when working with juvenile offenders.
