Space Strategies (depending on security level)

  1. Programs held in cell blocks
    a.  Table games, puzzles, cards, etc.
    b.  VCR connected to TV’s for movies or special programming
    c.  Educational programming through cable TV
    d.  Computers & typewriters
     
  2. Conduct space needs analysis – identify open rooms & hallways
     
  3. Outside and inside (facility) programming (per classification)
    a.  Trailer placed outside facility
    b.  Transported by outside volunteers – example:  volunteers take inmates to help
         with the local food shelf
     
  4. Be objective, flexible
     
  5. Portable equipment
    a.  VCR, computers, games, drywriting board, typewriter, tapes, boom-box,
         stair stepper, foosball table, etc.
     
  6. Multipurpose rooms
    a.  Main schedule for AA, religion, education
     
  7. Productive scheduling – time, persons, activities
    a.  How can you get the most people to attend to the most programs?
    b.  Do not allow space to sit empty
