Staffing Strategies

1. Audio programs
   a.  VCR/TV system (permanent or portable)
        i.  Self help
       ii.  Local library has tapes
      iii.  Purchase tapes or look for donations
    
2. Stagger staff
    
3. Recruit resident assistance
   a.  Use inmates and their skills to help instruct other inmates
   b.  Use inmates as tutors
    
4. Implement Volunteer Program
   a.  Recruit – use application
   b.  Train – policy & procedures; volunteer handbook
   c.  Document – volunteers, volunteer hours, and program hours
   d.  Send thank-You’
    
5. Special Interest Groups
   a.  R.S.V.P.
   b.  Ministerial
   c.  Retired teachers in community
   d.  School districts
    
6. Identify and request assistance from other groups mandated to provide services
   a.  School district must teach individuals under the age of 18
    
7. Wear 2 or more hats
   a.  Staff must be flexible and able to adapt
    
8. Student interns
   a.  From local colleges
    
9. Advertise need for volunteer assistance
